On November 22, 1923 the Department of the State Corporation Commission of the Commonwealth of Virginia authorized Richmond Postal Credit Union to commence business. Today Richmond Postal Credit Union is Virginia's oldest state chartered credit union. During the credit union's earliest existence, it offered a limited number of services and products consisting of a basic savings plan and small loans. As a result of the credit union's well managed growth and strong financial position over the years, this member owned financial cooperative is poised to be the primary financial institution for all in our field of membership. Our field of membership is composed of the following groups, each of which has a common bond of occupation or association: (a) Active and retired career employees and Rural Carrier Associates of the Richmond, Virginia area Post Offices with zip code prefixes 232, 224, 225, 230, 231, 238, and 239; (b) employees of the following groups: Architectural Hardware, Inc.; PM Building Maintenance, Corp.; Northern Appraisal Group of Virginia; Paul D. Harvey, DDS; Sir Speedy Printing (Store# 7318); Richmond Lodge #65; Rubicon, Inc.; Wally's Wheels, Inc.; Holy Ground Christian Fellowship; Francis H. Peck-Appraiser; PM Specialty Foods; PM Holdings LLC; Symbol Mattress (consisting of Symbol Mattress, Eastern Sleep, Master Craft Sleep Products, & Quality Springs); TSRC, INC. (consisting of The Supply Room Companies, Mega Office Furniture, Open Plan Systems, & Colormark Printing); Kloke Group; English Boiler & Tube, Inc.; Building Specialties, Mail Handlers Local 305, Virginia Box, Inc., Environmental Solutions, The Antioch Company,Fairhaven Deliverance Center Ministries, Lumberg, Inc. and, Linda J. Woods, P.C., Hanson Pipe and Products, Inc., GRTC Transit System; Virginia Center East Owners Association; Old Dominion Glass, Inc. (c) employees of this credit union; (d) associations of such persons, and household and family members of such persons as defined in Articles 1 and 5 of the Virginia Credit Union Act; (e) other credit unions; (f) retired career employees of the USPS who reside within the zip code prefixes 232, 224, 225, 230, 231, 238, and 239; (g) persons who live, work, worship, volunteer, or attend school in, businesses and other legal entities located in the City of Richmond, Virginia .
